Skipton Christian Fellowship continue to support Jubilee Outreach Yorkshire. Each month a box of  food is taken over to Dr. Kathy Tedd in Shipley containing dried foodstuff, tinned fish, medicines etc. Also walking sticks/ frames, medical dressings, as we can obtain them. These are then sent as part of a consignment in a 40 ft. lorry to Romania, where 'JOY'  run  orphanages, hospitals and  support the destitute elderly and youth. Everyone in the Fellowship contributes, and in addition will soon be making up 'shoe box' gifts for distribution at Christmas. We have now started to run a Bric-a-Brac stall every Friday in Skipton Town Hall and have to date raised £800 plus for the project. Anyone who has any goods that we can sell on the stall or would like more information then please contact us on the church tel no. 01756 700113.You can also contact Jubilee Outreach Yorkshire by e-mail on:

Our Pastor Peter Eaves and some members of the church are involved in this ministry:

'Street Angels' is a ministry in which the local Churches show that they care abut & are willing to serve the local community. It is particularly concerned with the changes that occur in our town centres on Friday & Saturday nights.

Street Angels is about offering a safe place during those times, for those who may be vulnerable & need help. It is about offering a safe solution that will enable vulnerable people to get home safely. Such people may be leaving the cinema, pubs or night clubs, waiting for a taxi or bus home, or those finding themselves unwell.

HOW CAN STREET ANGELS HELP THE PUBLIC?
They can offer assistance during these hours to those who have concerns about their health & safety. Friends or family can be contacted from a safe, warm place at their base, where a hot drink can be provided, until suitable transport home can be available by taxi or public transport. They can deal with minor injuries, or contact the ambulance service if needed.

Street Angels are organised by Churches Together as a response to the Good News of the Gospel & a demonstration of love in action. Christian members of the team are willing to listen & to share their faith, or to pray with those who ask.
Mostly though, Street Angels aim to bring a friendly face to the town centre helping to make sure that everyone's evening is as safe as it can be.

WHERE DOES THE IDEA COME FROM?
Churches Together in Halifax pioneered the scheme & have been running since 2004. They are much appreciated by the police & the community & have contributed to the 40% decrease in crime in the town centre. They are very willing to share their expertise & experience with any other towns. To date about 30 towns have set up similar schemes according their individual requirements.

WHO PAYS FOR THE SERVICE?
Funding is raised by a fund-raising group, tapping into local grants & donations, which are generally willingly given because of the potential benefits to the whole community, & particularly to young people.

TRAINING
Training is carefully planned & provided by such as the police, St Johns Ambulance etc. Volunteers will be fully insured by the organisation. All will need to be CRB checked. Great care is taken to protect the Street Angels from possible danger by conforming to set procedures.

VOLUNTEERS
Much help will be needed for such as fund-raising, helping at the 'Base', keeping records, manning the telephone, accounting, publicity – as well as those who actually patrol the streets. All do not need to be church attenders if they fulfil other requirements. The scheme will provide opportunities for Christians to work & be known outside the churches. Please pray for the Street Angels task group who are exploring possibilities for CTSD.
